Tips for Writing a Resume
- Don’t send a standard resume to all employers. It is easier but it does not work.
- Avoid spelling and grammatical errors, employers take such errors seriously. Double check before sending it out.
- Keep it short (1 to 3 pages), neat and well organized.
- Employers receive hundreds of resumes and only spend a few seconds to look at one and make up their mind. Make your resume different and interesting!
- Study each employer’s needs: what kinds of education, experience, skills and knowledge do they require?
- Ask yourself: What do I have to offer? Spend some time to think about your experience, achievements, education skills and knowledge.
- Prepare a resume that tells them quickly how you fit their needs.
- Be specific, highlight what you actually did or accomplished
- Avoid the temptation to include more than necessary. It is counter-productive.
